Recognizing the urgent need for comprehensive solutions, MYLIFE (Mentoring Youth, Learning, Inspiring Future Empowerment) proudly presents its visionary initiative: the New Promise for Black Men and Boys. MYLIFE is committed to addressing the multifaceted challenges Black men and boys encounter, emphasizing the importance of tailored, holistic approaches that consider the intersectionality of their experiences.

 

This transformative initiative draws from a wealth of data and research, highlighting the stark realities faced by Black men and boys in the United States. These realities include disparities in Education, economic mobility, earnings, labor force participation, unemployment, life expectancy, COVID-19 impact, and involvement in the criminal justice system.

 

Each of these challenges is met with a corresponding solution within MYLIFE’s New Deal, which seeks to empower Black men and boys across every aspect of their lives. From Education and economic empowerment to mental health support and criminal justice reform, MYLIFE aims to break the cycles of disadvantage and uplift Black men and boys.

 

This visionary initiative goes beyond traditional approaches by recognizing the importance of fostering self-awareness, self-love, and respect for others within Black communities. Through Education, economic empowerment, mental health support, and criminal justice reform, MYLIFE seeks to create a brighter future for Black men and boys—one where they are equipped to achieve their dreams, break down barriers, and build stronger, healthier communities.

 

MYLIFE’s Promise for Black Men and Boys:

  1. We promise to provide you with caring, committed mentors who will be positive role models, listen to you without judgment, and support you in reaching your full potential. Our mentors will be carefully screened and will reflect the diversity of the Black community.
  2. We promise to create a safe space where you can freely express yourself, explore your identity, and discuss the challenges you face without fear of discrimination or stigma. Confidentiality will be maintained, and your voice will be heard and valued.
  3. We promise to offer culturally relevant programming that celebrates Black heritage, fosters a strong sense of self and community, and equips you with the knowledge, skills and networks to thrive academically, professionally and personally. We will connect you to opportunities and resources to help you achieve your goals.

Mentorship: Experienced mentors guide Black men and boys, providing academic advice, study strategies, and encouragement.
